Dopamine Chamber is the upcoming fifth studio album by the Irish rock band Fontaines D.C., set to be released on 16 October 2026 through XL Recordings. Produced by James Ford, who worked with the band on their previous album, Romance (2024), the album has been preceded by the single "Marianne".

Background and writing

Following the release of their fourth studio album, Romance, in August 2024, which received critical acclaim and achieved commercial success, Fontaines D.C. embarked on the Romance tour.[1] After concluding the tour, the band began working on material for their fifth studio album.

In February 2025, the band told NME that they had begun working on new material and were unable to "stop writing". Conor Deegan described some of the songs as having "a feel to them", while others were "more loose". He said that the band had not yet determined the direction of the new material but were interested in what they had written so far.[2] In January 2026, guitarist Carlos O'Connell said that Fontaines D.C. had been writing new material, describing the process as "fun".[3]

The band returned to performing live in summer 2026, with a run of dates in Cádiz. These shows marked the debut of two songs from Dopamine Chamber, lead single "Marianne", and album opener "Six Shot Morning".[4]

Release and promotion

In August 2026, the band began revamping its social media presence, introducing a new logo, a newsletter, and a new press image featuring the number 5.[5] The title Dopamine Chamber was publicly revealed on 15 August 2026. The announcement was accompanied by a 26-second teaser of the opening track "Six Shot Morning".

On 17 August 2026, the band made an exclusive first pressing of the album available on vinyl. This was followed by an announcement of the album's lead single, "Marianne", set for release on the 18th. Alongside this, the album's release date was also revealed.
