Zoofit

Zoofit adalah hewan yang tampak seperti tumbuhan. Contoh zoofit adalah anemon laut. Istilah ini sudah tidak digunakan lagi dalam sains modern.[1]

Zoofit banyak digunakan sebagai obat-obatan pada abad pertengahan dan renaisans. Contohnya yang terkenal adalah Domba Tartar, tanaman yang membuahkan domba.[2] Zoofit muncul dalam banyak teks medis, seperti De Materia Medica karya Pedanius Dioscorides atau Discorsi karya Mattioli. Zoofit umumnya dipandang sebagai usaha orang-orang abad pertengahan untuk menjelaskan asal-usul tanaman yang eksotik dan tidak diketahui dengan properti yang aneh (seperti kapas dalam kasus Lembu Tartar).[3] Baru pada tahun 1646 klaim mengenai zoofit mulai ditolak kebenarannya.[2]
