Sistem xDrive di BMW X5 (E70)

BMW xDrive adalah nama pemasaran untuk sistem penggerak semua roda yang ditemukan di berbagai model BMW sejak 2003.[1] Sistem ini menggunakan diferensial paket kopling yang digerakkan secara elektronik untuk memvariasikan torsi antara gandar depan dan belakang. Model dengan sistem vektor torsi DPC juga memiliki gearset planetari untuk menggerakkan gardan atau roda belakang secara berlebihan sesuai kebutuhan.

Sebelum xDrive diperkenalkan, penggerak semua roda tersedia di beberapa model sejak 1985, berdasarkan sistem penggerak semua roda yang menggunakan kopling kental.
