Zeitgeist

Zeitgeist (bahasa Jerman: Zeit yang berarti waktu atau zaman dan Geist yang berarti jiwa) merupakan pemikiran dominan pada suatu masa yang menggambarkan dan memengaruhi sebuah budaya dalam masa itu sendiri.[1] Zeitgeist diasosiasikan dengan History of Philosphy oleh Georg Hegel, Hegel berpendapat bahwa tidak ada seorang pun yang dapat melompati masanya sendiri, jiwa pemikiran pada zamannya (bahasa jerman: der geist seiner zeit), juga merupakan jiwanya sendiri.[2] Filsuf lainnya yang sering diasosiasikan dengan pemikiran zeitgeist yaitu Herder, Spencer, dan Voltaire.[1] Dalam perkembangan arsitektur, zeitgeist merupakan pemicu dari modernisme dan sesuatu yang dapat memicu pertanyaan seorang arsitek yang membutuhkan pemikiran orisinal dan berhasrat akan intelegensi.[2]
