Viskometer

Viskometer (juga disebut Viskosimeter) adalah alat yang digunakan untuk mengukur viskositas fluida. Untuk cairan dengan viskositas yang berbeda dengan kondisi aliran, alat yang disebut Rheometer yang digunakan. Alat ukur kekentalan hanya mengukur dengan satu syarat aliran.
Secara umum, baik cairan tetap diam dan benda bergerak melalui itu, atau objek diam dan bergerak fluida melewatinya. Hambatan yang disebabkan oleh gerakan cairan dan permukaan adalah ukuran viskositas. Kondisi aliran harus memiliki nilai yang cukup kecil bilangan Reynolds untuk itu menjadi aliran laminar.
Pada 20.00 derajat Celcius viskositas air 1,002 MPa·s dan viskositas kinematik nya (rasio viskositas kepadatan) adalah 1,0038 mm2/s. Nilai-nilai ini digunakan untuk kalibrasi beberapa jenis viskometer.
