Under the Net adalah sebuah novel debut dari Iris Murdoch. Bertempat di London, bercerita tentang seorang penulis muda, Jake Donaghue yang sedang berjuang dengan perpaduan antara filosofis dan picaresque menjadikannya salah satu novel Murdoch yang paling populer. Didedikasikan untuk Raymond Queneau. Saat Jake meninggalkan flat Madge di Bab 1, dua buku yang disebutkannya diambil adalah Murphy karangan Samuel Beckett, dan Pierrot mon ami karya Queneau, keduanya bergema dalam cerita ini. Epigraph dari John Dryden mengacu pada cara karakter utama didorong dari tempat ke tempat karena kesalahpahamannya.

Pada tahun 2005, Under the Net dipilih oleh majalah Time sebagai salah satu dari seratus novel berbahasa Inggris terbaik sejak 1923.[2] Para editor Modern Library menamakan karya tersebut sebagai salah satu novel berbahasa Inggris terbesar abad ke-20.[3]
