The Chaos
"The Chaos" adalah puisi yang mendemonstrasikan ketidakjelasan ejaan dan pengucapan dalam bahasa Inggris. Ditulis oleh penulis, pelancong, dan pengajar asal Belanda, Gerard Nolst Trenité (1870–1946), puisi ini mengandung sekitar 800 contoh kata yang ejaannya tidak jelas. Versi pertamanya yang terdiri dari 146 baris muncul di pengantar buku teks karyanya tahun 1920, Drop Your Foreign Accent: engelsche uitspraakoefeningen, tetapi "the most complete and authoritative version ever likely to emerge" yang diterbitkan oleh The Spelling Society tahun 1992–93 terdiri dari 274 baris.[1]
