Tenontosaurus (/tɪˌnɒntəˈsɔːrəs/ terj. har. 'kadal otot') adalah genus dari dinosaurus ornithopoda berukuran sedang hingga besar, yang dapat tumbuh hingga 6-7 meter, dan berat 600-1000 kilogram.[1] Genus ini memiliki ekor yang panjang dan lebar, sementara punggungnya dikakukan dengan jaringan tendon bertulang.

Tenontosaurus diketahui dari tahap Aptium akhir hingga Albium pada kala Kapur Awal di Amerika Utara, sekitar 115 dan 108 juta tahun lalu. Genus ini memiliki dua spesies, Tenontosaurus tilletti (dideskripsikan oleh John Ostrom pada 1970[2]) dan Tenontosaurus dossi (dideskripsikan oleh Winkler, Murry dan Jacobs pada 1997[3]). Banyak spesimen dari T. tilletti sudah ditemukan pada beberapa formasi geologi disekujur Amerika Utara barat, sementara T. dossi hanya diketahui dari beberapa spesimen yang ditemukan di Formasi Gunung Kembar, Parker County, Texas.
