Surus

Surus adalah nama gajah perang terakhir milik Hannibal Barca, jenderal pasukan Kartago di Italia. Beberapa penulis Romawi kuno memberi keterangan mengenai Surus. Diceritakan bahwa Surus kemungkinan adalah gajah Asia besar dengan satu gading. Menurut beberapa sumber, hewan ini adalah gajah terakhir dari 37 gajah perang yang dibawa oleh Hannibal dalam perjalanannya melewati pegunungan Alpen. Surus berperan sebagai platform bagi hannibal, yang sulit melihat medan tempur karena dia kehilangan satu mata karena infeksi.

Menurut Plautus, Surus memakai jubah merah, dan membawa perisai merah serta sebuah rengga.
