Sun Records adalah sebuah label rekaman independen Amerika yang didirikan oleh Sam Phillips di Memphis, Tennessee pada 1952.[1] Sun adalah perusahaan pertama yang merekam Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, dan Johnny Cash.

Sejarah

Sun Records menemukan dan pertama kali mereka musisi-musisi berpengaruh seperti Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis dan Johnny Cash. Kontrak rekaman Presley kemudian dijual kepada RCA Victor Records dengan harga $35,000 pada tahun 1955 untuk memulihkan kesulitan keuangan Sun. Sebelum rekaman, Sun telah banyak berkonsentrasi pada musisi-musisi Afrika-Amerika karena Phillips suka rhythm and blues dan ingin mengirimkannya kepada audien kulit putih. Produser dan teknisi rekaman Sun Jack Clement menemukan dan merekam Jerry Lee Lewis saat Phillips berkunjung ke Florida.
