Shangchen

Shangchen (Hanzi sederhana:上陈adalah situs arkeologi paleolitikum di desa Shangchen, Kabupaten Lantian, Shaanxi, Cina. Alat-alat batu yang ditemukan di situs ini, bertanggal lebih dari 2,1 juta tahun yang lalu, yang dikenal sebagai bukti terawal hominid di luar Afrika, melebihi Dmanisi di Georgia yang berusia 300.000 tahun. Shangchen diduduki untuk 850,000 tahun, dengan alat terbaru ditemukan bertanggal 1,26 juta tahun yang lalu. Tidak ada fosil-fosil hominin yang telah ditemukan.[1][2]

Lokasi

Shangchen terletak di dan dinamai desa Shangchen (上陈村), Daerah Yushan (zh), Kabupaten Lantian, Shaanxi;[3] desa itu sendiri adalah sekitar 30 km (19 mi) selatan dari Weinan dan 50 km (31 mi) tenggara dari ibu kota provinsi di Xi'an.
