Setaphyta adalah sebuah klad dalam divisi Bryophyta sensu lato yang mencakup Marchantiophytina (lumut hati) dan Bryophytina (lumut sejati). Kelompok ini tidak mencakup Anthocerotophytina (lumut tanduk).[1][2]
Penelitian pada tahun 2018 yang menggunakan teknik sekuensing molekuler menemukan bahwa lumut hati memiliki kekerabatan yang lebih dekat dengan lumut sejati dibandingkan dengan lumut tanduk. Temuan ini menyiratkan bahwa lumut hati bukanlah di antara kelompok pertama yang menjajah daratan.[3]

Terdapat bukti filogenetik yang kuat yang mendukung keberadaan klad Setaphyta.[1][4][5]
