Roundup Ready

Roundup Ready (RR) adalah merek dagang Perusahaan Monsanto untuk paten produk tanaman transgenik mereka yang tahan terhadap herbisida berbasis glifosat, Roundup.

Sejarah

Pada tahun 1996, kedelai yang dimodifikasi secara genetik 'Roundup Ready' tahan terhadap Roundup (herbisida), tersedia secara komersial, diikuti oleh produk Roundup Ready lainnya seperti jagung RR pada tahun 1998.[1] Paten RR untuk kedelai sudah berakhir pada tahun 2014.[2] Tanaman Roundup Ready saat ini termasuk kedelai, jagung, kanola,[3] bit gula,[4] kapas dan alfalfa,[5] sedangkan gandum[6] masih dalam tahap pengembangan. Pada 2005, 87% lahan pertanian kedelai di Amerika Serikat telah ditanami dengan varietas tahan glifosat.[7][8]
