Retiarius

Retiarius ("penjala" atau "petarung jala") adalah gladiator Romawi yang dipersenjatai dengan alat-alat kerja nelayan, yakni jaring berpemberat (rete), trisula (fuscina atau tridens), dan sebilah belati (pugio). Retiarius mengenakan sedikit pelindung, hanya memakai pelindung lengan (manica) dan pelindung bahu (galerus). Bisanya pakaiannya hanyalah cawat (subligaculum) yang diikat dengan sabuk, atau tunik pendek dengan sedikit lapisan. Dia sama sekali tidak beralas kaki.
