Radio Ceylon adalah stasiun radio tertua di Asia. Penyiaran ini dimulai pada basis eksperimental di Sailan oleh Departemen Telegrap pada tahun 1923, hanya tiga tahun setelah peresmian penyiaran di Eropa.
Ceylon Broadcasting Corporation
Radio Ceylon menjadi perusahaan publik pada 30 September 1967 dan nama stasiun diubah ke Ceylon Broadcasting Corporation. Perdana Menteri Dudley Senanayake diangkat pegawai negeri dibedakan Ceylon, Neville Jayaweera untuk memimpin CBC.
Ketika Sri Lanka menjadi republik pada tahun 1972, nama stasiun radio ini berganti nama sebagai Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
Pada Desember 2005, Sri Lanka merayakan delapan puluh tahun di bidang penyiaran, sebuah bangunan bersejarah di dunia penyiaran. Pada tanggal 5 Januari 2007 Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation merayakan empat puluh tahun sebagai perusahaan penyiaran publik.
