Pusaran

Pusaran atau pual[1] (bahasa Inggris: vortex) adalah aliran cairan yang berputar dan biasanya bergolak. Gerakan pilin apapun dengan arah aliran tertutup disebut aliran pusaran. Gerakan cairan yang berputar cepat mengitari pusatnya disebut pusaran. Kecepatan dan tingkat rotasi cairan dalam pusaran bebas (irotasional) lebih tinggi di pusatnya, dan menurun secara berangsur sesuai jarak dari pusatnya, sementara kecepatan pusaran dorongan (rotasional) adalah nol di pusat dan meningkat secara proporsional sesuai jarak dari pusatnya. Kedua jenis pusaran tersebut memiliki tekanan minimum di pusat, meski tekanan minimum pada pusaran bebas lebih rendah.
