Oxyurichthys microlepis, umumnya dikenal sebagai puntang adalah spesies ikan menga [2] yang berasal dari perairan laut tropis dan air payau di sepanjang pantai Samudera Hindia dari Afrika hingga Samudera Pasifik bagian barat di mana ia hidup di muara dan perairan dekat pantai hingga kedalaman sekitar 75 meter (246 ft) .[3][4] Dapat ditemukan di Delta Mekong dan diduga menggunakan aliran pasang surut sungai untuk mencapai pedalaman hingga Kamboja.[4] Spesies ini boleh mencapai panjang 135 sentimeter (53 in) TL. Ikan ini tidak terlalu penting bagi perikanan komersial lokal dan juga dapat ditemukan dalam perdagangan akuarium .[4]
