PowerBook G3 keluaran th 1998

PowerBook adalah komputer laptop yang diproduksi oleh Apple Computer dari tahun 1991 hingga 2006; sebuah versi portabel dari seri Macintosh yang ditujukan untuk pasaran profesional. Sejak tahun 1999, Apple juga mengeluarkan seri yang lebih murah yang ditujukan untuk pasaran rumah tangga dan pendidikan dengan nama iBook.

Sebelum munculnya PowerBook, Apple pernah mencoba untuk menciptakan komputer portabel dengan nama Macintosh Portable. Perangkat elektroniknya mirip dengan Macintosh SE, tetapi memiliki kecepatan CPU dua kali lipat, layar LCD yang menggantikan layar tabung, dan baterai yang sangat berat tetapi dapat digunakan sampai sepuluh jam. Walaupun komputer tersebut tergolong bagus, tetap saja dijuluki komputer tas koper karena ukuran dan beratnya yang besar. Produk tersebut tidak laku dijual dan Apple berusaha untuk mencari solusi yang lainnya.

Tahun 2006, Apple mulai memasarkan MacBook Pro yang menggantikan lini produk PowerBook.
