Pengintaian siber adalah tindakan atau praktek mendapatkan rahasia dan informasi tanpa sepengetahuan pemegang informasi dari perorangan, kompetitor, rival, kelompok, pemerintahan dan musuh untuk tujuan pribadi, ekonomi, politik atau militer memakai berbagai metode di Internet, jaringan atau komputer individual melalui pemakaian server proksi,[1] teknik cracking dan malware yang meliputi Trojan horse dan perangkat pengintaian.[2][3] Pada saat ini, pengintaian siber melibatkan analisis kegiatan masyarakat di situs-situs jejaring sosial seperti Facebook dan Twitter.[4]
