OpenSPARC

OpenSPARC adalah proyek perangkat keras sumber terbuka yang dimulai pada Desember 2005. Kontribusi awal untuk proyek ini adalah kode Verilog tingkat register-transfer (register-transfer level, RTL) Sun Microsystems untuk mikroprosesor 64-bit 32 utas penuh, prosesor UltraSPARC T1. Pada 21 Maret 2006, Sun merilis kode sumber ke inti KI T1 di bawah GNU General Public License v2. Sistem OpenSPARC T1 lengkap terdiri dari 8 inti, masing-masing mampu mengeksekusi empat utas secara bersamaan, dengan total 32 utas. Setiap inti mengeksekusi instruksi secara berurutan dan logikanya dibagi di antara 6 tahap pipa.

Pada 11 Desember 2007, Sun juga membuat RTL prosesor UltraSPARC T2 tersedia melalui proyek OpenSPARC.[1] Itu juga dirilis di bawah Lisensi Publik Umum GNU v2.[2] OpenSPARC T2 mempunyai 8 inti, 16 pipa dengan 64 utas.
