Nova

Nova adalah ledakan nuklir kataklismik yang disebabkan oleh akresi hidrogen ke permukaan sebuah katai putih. Fisis ledakan ini berbeda dengan yang terjadi pada supernova dan nova merah cerlang.
Selama letusan nova, selubung kaya hidrogen mengembang hingga mencapai ukuran raksasa, disertai percepatan kehilangan massa melalui angin bintang. Ledakan semacam ini telah dimodelkan oleh berbagai peneliti menggunakan kode evolusi tipe Henyey[1]
