Nikumaroro

Nikumaroro, sebelumnya bernama pulau Gardner, adalah sebuah atol yang merupakan bagian dari kepulauan Phoenix, Kiribati, di bagian barat samudera Pasifik.

Pulau ini dipercaya sebagai tempat Amelia Earhart dan Fred Noonan tinggal selama penerbangan keliling dunia tahun 1937, di mana pulau ini tak berpenghuni. "Grup Internasional Penyelamatan Pesawat Historis" (TIGHAR) mengusulkan bahwa Earhart dan Noonan mungkin terbang tanpa transmisi radio lebih lanjut untuk dua setengah jam sepanjang garis posisi yang dicatat Earhart dalam transmisi terakhirnya yang diterima di pulau Howland. Dipercaya pula bahwa ia mendarat di dataran karang luas dekat bangkai kapal barang besar dan tewas di pulau ini.
