Subordo Myomorpha mencakup 1,524 spesies hewan pengerat mirip tikus,[1] yang meakili hampir seperempat dari semua spesies mamalia. Yang termasuk dalam kelompok ini mencakup tikus, gerbil, hamster, leming dan tikus-padang (bahasa Inggris: vole). Mereka dikelompokkan bersama bedasarkan struktur rahang dan gigi geraham mereka. Selain itu, mereka dicirikan dengan sistem zigomaseterik mereka yang miomorf. Hal ini berarti otot maseter medial dan lateral mereka diposisikan kearah depan, membantu mereka mengunyah lebih baik. Seperti pada hewan pengerat Hystricomorpha lainnya, maseter medialnya melalui rongga matanya. Hal ini hanya ditemukan pada kelompok tersebut. Myomorpha ditemukan di seluruh dunia (kecuali Antarktika) dan pada hampir semua habitat darat. Mereka adalah hewan pemakan biji nokturnal.
