Montir
Mekanik atau montir ialah seorang perajin, pekerja terampil atau teknisi yang menggunakan peralatan kepada membangun, mempertahankan atau reparasi mesin.[1]
Tugas
Sebagian besar mekanik memiliki spesialisasi dalam bidang tertentu, seperti mekanik penyejuk udara, mekanik refrigerasi, mekanik otomotif, mekanik sepeda, mekanik pendidih, mekanik pemeliharaan industri (mekanik mesin), mekanik sepeda motor, mekanik pesawat terbang, mekanik alat berat, mekanik otobus, mekanik truk, mekanik motor diesel serta mekanik tank di dinas militer.[2]
Bagian otomotif
Mekanik otomotif dikenal memiliki banyak pekerja. Beberapa berspesialisasi dalam aspek kelistrikan, sementara sebagian lain pada aspek mekanisme atau cara kerja mesin. Bidang lain mencakup: rem dan setir, suspensi kendaraan, persneling otomatis atau manual, reparasi motor ataupun memeriksa sesuai keluhan pelanggan.
