Modesta

Modesta adalah sebuah film pendek tahun 1956, berlatar Puerto Rico, di mana seorang wanita petani memberontak melawan otoritarianisme suaminya. Ia dan wanita lainnya dari komunitasnya menghimpun Liga Wanita Terliberalisasi untuk berjuang atas hak-hak mereka. Film tersebut dibintangi oleh Antonia Hidalgo dan Juan Ortiz Jiménez.

Film tersebut diadaptasi oleh Benjamin Doniger, Luis A. Maisonet dan René Marqués dari sebuah cerita karya Domingo Silas Ortiz. Film tersebut disutradarai oleh Doniger. Pada 1998, Modesta terpilih untuk penyajian dalam Pendaftaran Film Nasional Amerika Serikat oleh Perpustakaan Kongres karena "signifikan secara budaya, sejarah, atau aestetik".
