Sir Michael Llewellyn Rutter (15 Agustus 1933 – 23 Oktober 2021) adalah seorang dokter yang lebih mendalami kejiwaan anak dan melakukan penelitian yang lebih difokuskan pada masalah kejiwaan pada anak terutama anak-anak yang memerlukan perlakuan khusus. Adapun buku yang beliau tulis diantaranya:Child and adolescent Psychiatry: Modern Approaches, Depression in Young People;Developmental and Clinical Perpectives. Selain itu beliau juga banyak menulis artikel yang berkaitan dengan keilmuannya. Beliau juga dikenal sebagai bapak psikiatri anak.[1]
Masa kecil
Rutter adalah anak pertama yang lahir dari pasangan Winifred dan Llewellyn Rutter. Dia lahir di Libanon dimana ayahnya bekerja sebagai dokter, tetapi kemudia pindah ke Inggris pada masa mudanya. Pada tahun 1940 diusianya yang mnginjak 7 tahun karena takut dengan Invansi Jerman ia dievakuasi dengan sudari perempuannya ke Amerika Utara.[2]
Edukasi
Dia bersekolah di Sekolah Teman Moorestown di New Jersey, AS. Kemudian ia menghadiri Wolverhampton Grammar School dan kemudian Bootham School di York,[3][4] dari mana ia melanjutkan studinya di University of Birmingham Medical School.
