Metropolitan Opera
Metropolitan Opera (the "Met") adalah sebuah perusahaan opera yang terletak di New York City. Awalnya didirikan tahun 1880,[1] perusahaan ini mengadakan pertunjukan pertamanya pada 22 Oktober 1883. Perusahaan ini dioperasikan oleh asosiasi nirlaba Metropolitan Opera Association, dengan Peter Gelb sebagai manajer umumnya. Direktur musiknya ialah James Levine.
The Met mengadakan pertunjukan di Metropolitan Opera House, yang terletak di Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts di Broadway, Upper West Side, New York. The Met adalah anggota pendiri Lincoln Center yang masih menjadi satu dari 12 organisasi penghuni pusat ini.
The Metropolitan Opera adalah organisasi musik klasik terbesar di Amerika Utara. Organisasi ini menampilkan 27 opera setiap tahun dalam musim yang berlangsung mulai akhir September hingga Mei.
