Messier 59 (juga dikenal sebagai M59 atau NGC 4621) adalah sebuah galaksi eliptis di rasi bintang Virgo.

Sejarah

Messier 59 dan galaksi eliptis terdekat, Messier 60, keduanya ditemukan oleh Johann Gottfried Koehler pada bulan April 1779 selama pengamatan komet di bagian yang sama dari langit.[5] Charles Messier mencantumkannya dalam Katalog Messier sekitar tiga hari setelah penemuan Koehler.[5]

M59 merupakan anggota dari gugus Virgo.
