Messier 23 (juga dikenal sebagai NGC 6494) adalah sebuah gugus terbuka yang terletak di rasi bintang Sagittarius. Gugus ini ditemukan oleh Charles Messier pada tanggal 20 Juni 1764.

M23 berjarak sekitar 2.150 tahun cahaya dari Bumi, dan memiliki jari-jari antara 15 hingga 20 tahun cahaya. Ada sekitar 150 bintang anggota gugus ini yang telah diidentifikasi, yang paling terang memiliki magnitudo 9,2.
