Melanisme

Melanisme merupakan kondisi saat suatu individu memiliki warna tubuh yang lebih gelap sebagai polimorfisme pasa suatu spesies yang sama, maupun antara spesies yang berkerabat dekat.[1]Melanisme yang berkaitan dengan proses adaptasi dikenal sebagai melanisme adaptif. Pada umumnua, hewan dengan kemampuan ini dapat memiliki kemampuan penyamaran yang lebih baik dan menyerap suhu panas dengan lebih baik. [2] Secara genetik, melanisme dapat bersifat dominan atau resesif tergantung gen yang bertanggung jawab menurukan sifat genetiknya.[3]
