Matthew Tindal

Matthew Tindal (1657 – 16 Agustus 1733) adalah seorang deis Inggris. Karyanya yang menentang konsensus Kristen pada masa itu memicu kontroversi.

Karya-karya awalnya meliputi Essay of Obedience to the Supreme Powers (1694); Essay on the Power of the Magistrate and the Rights of Mankind in Matters of Religion (1697); dan The Liberty of the Press (1698). Karyanya The Rights of the Christian Church associated against the Romish and all other priests who claim an independent power over it, pt. i. diterbitkan secara anonim pada tahun 1706 (edisi kedua, 1706; ke-3, 1707; ke-4, 1709).

Dalam karya-karyanya, ia berusaha mempertahankan gagasan bahwa negara lebih unggul dalam urusan gereja.
