Biografi
Pada tahun 1996, ia mendirikan band 3 Doors Down. Pada tahun 2012, ia meninggalkan 3 Doors Down setelah 16 tahun berkontribusi untuk grup band karena masalah kesehatan. Pada 20 Agustus 2016, ia ditemukan tak sadarkan diri oleh staf hotel di sebuah hotel di West Bend, di mana sang gitaris pada saat itu bersama ayahnya, Darrell Roberts, yang sedang mempersiapkan konser amal untuk para veteran. Petugas polisi tiba dan mengkonfirmasi kematian Matt. Upacara pemakaman diadakan pada 26 Agustus 2016 di Moss Point, Mississippi. Ia dimakamkan di Serene Memorial Gardens.
