Mars Telecommunications Orbiter

Mars Telecommunications Orbiter adalah sebuah misi Mars yang dibatalkan pada awalnya ditujukan untuk dimulai pada tahun 2009 dan akan membentuk Internet antarplanet antara Bumi dan Mars. Pesawat ruang angkasa tersebut akan tiba di orbit tinggi di atas Mars pada tahun 2010 dan menyampaikan paket data ke Bumi dari berbagai pendarat Mars dan pengorbit selama sepuluh tahun, pada tingkat data yang sangat tinggi. Satelit komunikasi khusus tersebut dianggap perlu karena jumlah besar informasi ilmiah yang akan dikirim ke Bumi oleh pendarat seperti Mars Science Laboratory.
