Mark Wheelis

Mark L. Wheelis adalah ahli mikrobiologi Amerika. Wheelis saat ini seorang profesor di College of Biological Sciences, University of California, Davis.[1] Carl Woese dan Otto Kandler dengan Wheelis menulis kertas penting Towards a natural system of organisms: proposal for the domains Archaea, Bacteria, and Eucarya yang mengusulkan perubahan dari sistem dua-empire Prokariota dan Eukariota menjadi sistem tiga domain dari domain Eukaryota, Bacteria dan Archaea.[2]

Kepentingan penelitian Wheelis termasuk sejarah perang biologis.[1] Ia turut menulis (dengan Larry Gonick) The Cartoon Guide to Genetics (1983). Wheelis memberikan pengetahuan dan teks ilmiah, sementara Gonick kontribusi ilustrasi dan humor.[3]
