Luddite
Luddite adalah para pekerja tekstil atau penenun Inggris dari abad ke-19 (terutama antara tahun 1811 hingga 1816) yang menentang pengembangan teknologi yang menghemat penggunaan tenaga kerja karena mesin-mesin penenun yang diperkenalkan pada masa Revolusi Industri mengancam lapangan kerja mereka. Pergerakan Luddite memicu pemberontakan di Inggris barat laut yang membuat pemerintah Britania harus mengirim banyak pasukan untuk memadamkannya.
Walaupun asal-usul kata Luddite (/ˈlʌd.aɪt/) masih belum pasti, nama pergerakan ini diduga berasal dari Ned Ludd, seorang pemuda yang menghancurkan dua mesin penenun pada tahun 1779.[1][2][3]
