Leishmania adalah genus tripanosomes yang menyebabkan penyakit leismaniasis.[1][2][3] Mereka disebarkan oleh lalat dari genus Phlebotomus di Dunia Lama serta lalat dari genus Lutzomyia di Dunia Baru. Inang utama mereka adalah vertebrata, termasuk hewan pengerat dan manusia.
Terdapat 53 spesies yang telah diakui di dalam genus ini, walaupun beberapa masih dipertentangkan. Terdapat paling tidak 20 spesies yang menyerang manusia.
