Kuffiyah

Kuffiyah (كوفية) juga Gutrah (غُترَة) atau Syimagh (شماغ ) merupakan penutup kepala tradisional yang biasa digunakan di Timur Tengah dan dunia Arab. Istilah Kuffiyah merujuk kepada kota Kufah di Irak. Ia berbentuk kain persegi bermotif jaring yang dilipat umumnya terbuat dari kain katun.

Kuffiyah umumnya digunakan pada wilayah padang pasir karena berfungsi sebagai pelindung daripada sengatan matahari, hembusan debu dan pasir.[1] Motif Kuffiyah yang digunakan oleh Yasser Arafat menjadi simbol perjuangan rakyat Palestina, dan digunakan oleh pendukungnya perjuangan di berbagai belahan dunia lain. Kuffiyah juga kemudian digunakan oleh beberapa tentara militer yang terinspirasi dari fungsi pakaian tradisional yang berfungsi menahan debu dan panas di lingkungan padang pasir.[2][3] Di era modern, Kuffiyah juga menjadi tren mode anak muda di beberapa tempat di dunia.[3]
