Kibera

Pemandangan Kibera

Kibera adalah salah satu kawasan kumuh terbesar di Afrika. Kibera terletak di kota Nairobi, Kenya. Wilayah ini memiliki populasi sekitar satu juta jiwa.[1]

Nama "Kibera" berasal dari kibra, kata dalam bahasa Nubia yang berarti "hutan".[2]

Pada 16 September 2009, pemerintah Kenya, yang mengklaim kepemilikan tanah Kibera, memulai kebijakan jangka panjang yang akan memindahkan penduduk yang tinggal di wilayah kumuh di Nairobi. Pembersihan Kibera diperkirakan akan memakan waktu dua hingga lima tahun.
