James Gray (lahir 14 April 1969) merupakan seorang sutradara dan penulis naskah Amerika Serikat. Ia dikenal sebagai sutradara film The Immigrant (2013), The Lost City of Z (2016) dan Ad Astra (2019).

Latar belakang dan pendidikan

James Gray lahir di New York City, New York. Ia merupakan keturunan Yahudi Ukraina,[3][4][5][6] dengan kakek dan nenek berasal dari Ostropol, Ukraina Barat.[7] Ayahnya merupakan seorang kontraktor elektronik. Ia menempuh pendidikan di Sekolah Seni Sinematik Universitas California Selatan, di mana film yang dibuatnya semasa kuliah, Cowboys and Angels, membantunya mendapatkan agen dan perhatian produser Paul Webster, yang mendorongnya untuk menulis naskah dan memproduksi film.[8]

James Gray menikah dengan Alexandra Dickson tahun 2005. Mereka berdua memiliki tiga anak.[9]
