Ionofor
Ionofor ("pembawa ion") adalah senyawa kimia yang dapat mengikat ion secara reversibel (bolak-balik: artinya ion yang telah diikat itu bisa dilepas kembali). Dalam tubuh makhluk hidup, banyak ionofor larut dalam lemak, sehingga berfungsi membawa ion-ion tertentu menembus membran sel.[1] Kebanyakan senyawa ionofor bersifat selektif, atau hanya dapat membawa ion-ion tertentu. Contoh ionofor adalah senyawa A23187 yang membawa ion kalsium (Ca2+), dan salinomisin yang membawa ion kalium (K+).[2] Dalam peternakan, ionofor seperti monensin, lasalosid dan laidlomisin propionat digunakan untuk mengemukkan hewan ternak.[3]
