Ava atau Inwa (bahasa Burma: အင်းဝမြို့; MLCTS: ang:wa.mrui., IPA: [ʔɪ́ɰ̃wa̰ mjo̰] atau [ʔəwa̰ mjo̰]; juga dieja Innwa) adalah sebuah kota yang terletak di Wilayah Mandalay, Myanmar. Kota ini beberapa kali menjadi ibu kota Myanmar dari abad ke-14 hingga ke-19. Kota Ava benar-benar ditinggalkan setelah hancur total akibat gempa besar pada bulan Maret 1839. Meskipun hanya sedikit jejak kemegahannya yang tersisa pada hari ini, tempat ini masih menjadi tujuan wisata populer di Mandalay.
Etimologi
Nama Inwa (အင်းဝ) secara harfiah berarti "mulut danau", yang mencerminkan lokasi geografisnya di mulut danau di Distrik Kyaukse. Teori lain menyatakan bahwa nama kota ini berasal dari Innawa (အင်းနဝ), yang berarti "sembilan danau" di daerah tersebut.[1] Nama kuno kota ini dalam bahasa Pali adalah Ratanapura (ရတနပုရ; "Kota Permata").[2][3]
