Introgresi
Introgresi adalah masuknya alel dari suatu spesies ke dalam lungkang gen dari spesies lain. Hal ini biasanya terjadi melalui persilangan berulang-ulang.[1][2][3][4] Introgresi pada masa lalu dapat meninggalkan sisa-sisa gen spesies yang telah punah ke spesies yang masih ada sekarang.[5] Hal ini diduga terjadi pada manusia, karena terdapat bukti yang kuat bahwa gen Manusia Neanderthal[6] dan Manusia Denisova[7] telah terintrogresi ke lungkang gen manusia akibat banyaknya perkawinan silang di masa lalu. Fenomena ini juga dimanfaatkan dalam domestikasi spesies tanaman, untuk memasukkan gen-gen yang berguna untuk mengembangkan tanaman di lingkungan yang baru.
