ISO 216 menentukan ukuran kertas standar internasional (ISO) yang digunakan di kebanyakan negara pada masa sekarang. Dia menegaskan rangkaian ukuran kertas "A" dan "B", termasuk A4 yang tersedia paling luas.[1] Dua standar tambahan, ISO 217 dan ISO 269, menetapkan ukuran kertas yang berhubung, seri "C" dari ISO 269 umumnya terdaftar bersama "A" dan "B".
Semua ukuran tersebut memiliki rasio aspek yang sama, . Rasio ini mempunyai sifat khusus, jika dipotong atau dilipatkan setengah, bagian akan memiliki rasio aspek yang sama. Setiap ukuran kertas ISO adalah setengah dari ukuran dengan nomor yang tadi.
