Hyperiidea adalah subordo Amphipoda, krustasea akuatik kecil. Berbeda dengan subordo Amphipoda lainnya, Hyperiidea secara eksklusif berhabitat di laut dan tidak terdapat pada air tawar. Hyperiidae dibedakan dengan subordo lainnya dengan ciri mata besar dan habitat planktonik. Sebagian besar spesies Hyperiidea merupakan parasit atau predator Salpidae dan ubur-ubur dalam bentuk plankton, walaupun Themisto gaudichaudii dan beberapa kerabatnya merupakan predator bebas Copepoda dan hewan planktonik kecil lainnya.

Taksonomi

Menurut Vinogradov dkk.,[1] terdapat 233 spesies Hyperiidea yang diketahui.

Terdapat kontroversi mengenai jumlah familia Hyperiidea, antara 20 dan 23 familia tergantung pada apakah kelompok seperti Thaumatopsidae dianggap berbeda atau tidak. Berikut daftar konservatif dari 20 familia:

Hyperiidea diketahui keberadaannya di banyak samudra di dunia dengan 69 spesies berada di Samudra Antartik.[2]
