Heterodoks

Heterodoks dalam esensi agama artinya "pendapat atau doktrin apapun yang merupakan ragam dari sebuah posisi resmi atau ortodoks".[1] Di bawah definisi tersebut, heterodoks mirip dengan unortodoks, sementara sebutan "heterodoks" dapat ditujukan kepada pembelot.

Heterodoks juga merupakan istilah gerejawi, yang diartikan dalam berbagai cara oleh agama dan gereja berbeda. Contohnya, dalam gereja-gereja apostolik (Gereja Ortodoks, Gereja Katolik Roma Gereja dari Timur, Persekutuan Anglikan dan Non-Kalsedonia atau Ortodoks Oriental), heterodoks dapat diartikan sebagai keyakinan yang berbeda dari pandangan yang sangat ortodoks, tetapi jatuh pada bentuk kesesatan.
