Herman Cyril McNeile, MC (28 September 1888 – 14 Agustus 1937), yang dikenal dengan nama Cyril McNeile dan menerbitkan karyanya dengan nama H. C. McNeile atau nama samaran Sapper, adalah seorang tentara dan penulis Inggris. Berdasarkan pengalamannya di medan tempur selama Perang Dunia Pertama, ia mulai menulis cerita pendek dan menerbitkannya di Daily Mail. Karena perwira yang bertugas di Angkatan Darat Inggris tidak diizinkan untuk menerbitkan karya dengan nama mereka sendiri, ia diberi nama pena "Sapper" oleh Lord Northcliffe, pemilik Daily Mail; nama panggilan tersebut diambil dari nama korpsnya, Royal Engineers.
