Karier

Lahir di Jackson, Mississippi, Amerika Serikat,[2] Fern Kinney (lahir Fern Kinney-Lewis) awalnya bernyanyi bersama The Poppies.[3]

Pada awal tahun 1970-an, Kinney mulai bekerja sebagai seorang musisi sesi dan penyanyi latar. Di antara lagu-lagu yang dia nyanyikan adalah "Groove Me" oleh King Floyd, dan single Top 10 oleh Dorothy Moore, "Misty Blue" (1976).

Pada tahun 1979, selepas menetap sebagai seorang ibu rumah tangga, Kinney memutuskan untuk mencoba melakukan comeback, dan dia merekam versinya sendiri dari lagu "Groove Me," tetapi mengubah irama lagu tersebut untuk menjadikannya sebuah lagu disko/dansa.
