Santo Dorotheus uskup di Tirus (4 Januari 255 – 5 Juni 362) secara tradisional dikreditkan dengan penulisan "Kisah Perbuatan Tujuh Puluh Murid" (yang mungkin adalah karya yang sama dengan Injil Ketujuh Puluh Murid yang telah hilang), yang diutus menurut Injil Lukas 10:1.
Dorotheus adalah imam terpelajar dari Antiokhia (Eusebius,VII.32). Dorotheus dikatakan telah didorong ke pengasingan selama penganiayaan Diokletianus, tetapi kemudian kembali. Ia hadir dalam Konsili Nicea pada tahun 325, tapi diasingkan ke Odyssopolis (Varna) di Laut Hitam di Trakia oleh Julian yang Murtad.Di sana imam berusia 107 tahun itu mati martir karena imannya. Hari peringatannya adalah pada tanggal 5 Juni menurut kalender Gregorian yang bertepatan dengan tanggal 18 Juni di kalender Julian.[1]
