Colocasia adalah sebuah genus[3][4] tumbuhan berbunga dalam keluarga Araceae, yang berasal dari Asia Tenggara dan anak benua India. Beberapa spesiesnya ditanam dan dinaturalisasikan di wilayah tropis dan subtropis lainnya.[1][5] Nama umumnya meliputi Tarul, Karkala ko ganu, Kuping gajah, Taro, Cocoyam, Dasheen, Chembu, Champadhumpa, dan Eddoe.
Dalam seni
Di Palestina Colocasia telah digunakan sejak zaman Kekaisaran Bizantium. Daun ditampilkan dalam mosaik dari Israel sebagai platform, seperti piring atau mangkuk, untuk melayani buah untuk makan. Misalnya di mosaik gereja Kursi.
