Struktur protein CD1D berdasarkan PDB (Protein Data Bank)

Molekul CD1D (CD1d) adalah anggota dari kluster diferensiasi 1 (cluster of differentiation 1, CD 1) yang termasuk dalam glikoprotein yang diekspresikan pada permukaan antigen-presenting cell (APC).[1] Molekul ini berhubungan dengan MHC (Major histocompatibility complex) kelas 1. Peran dari CD1D adalah untuk mempresentasikan antigen lipida pada sel T.

CD1D yang mempresentasikan antigen lipida akan mengaktivasi sel T khusus yang disebut sel NKT (natural killer T). Setelah teraktivasi, sel NKT segera memproduksi sel T pembantu (Th1 dan Th2).[2] Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan adanya produksi interferon gamma dan interleukin-4 (IL-4).
